Jury Awards $40 Million to Injured Airport Worker
SEATTLE – A jury in King County, WA, has awarded $40 million to Brandon Afoa of Puyallup, who was paralyzed in 2007 when his spine was crushed in an industrial accident. Afoa lost the use of his legs and right arm when the brakes and steering failed on the industrial tug he was operating and he crashed into a luggage lift. He sued the Port of Seattle, which owns and operates the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, claiming they failed to maintain a safe working environment. The Port of Seattle released a statement saying they expressed their sympathies to Afoa for the accident. For more information, visit seattletimes.com.
