Which Boppy Products Were Recalled?
Because they are a suffocation hazard, multiple Boppy loungers have been recalled, including:
- Boppy Original Newborn Loungers
- Boppy Preferred Newborn Loungers
- Pottery Barn Kids Boppy Newborn Loungers
These products were being sold in stores and online at multiple retailers. If you purchased a Boppy lounger at any of the following stores, please call us to find out what your legal options are:
- Pottery Barn Kids
- Target
- Walmart
- Amazon.com
Boppy loungers were sold from January 2004 until September 2021, when the recall was issued. This recall involves all Boppy Newborn Loungers. The loungers were sold in a variety of colors and fashions and measure about 23 inches long by 22 inches wide and 7 inches high.
So far 8 infant deaths have been reported between 2015-2020. According to the Boppy recall on the CPSC website, “Infants can suffocate if they roll, move, or are placed on the lounger in a position that obstructs breathing, or roll off the lounger onto an external surface, such as an adult pillow or soft bedding that obstructs breathing.” However, with over 3.3 million Boppy loungers sold, it is likely that there are more suffocation deaths that have occurred in infants using these newborn loungers.
